The Benefits of Rubber Roofing

One of the strongest materials you can find in nature is rubber. Although it may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, it has the ability ro resist corrosion, mold and rust, making it incredibly useful for storage units and commercial spaces. When rubber gets vulcanized it is forged into an even stronger and more resilient substance. There’s a good reason why rubber is used for car tires, since the wheels on every car take a lot of beating and they need to be robust. This is why it makes an excellent protective covering for roofs.

There are mulitple types of rubber roofing:

  • Polyvinyl cloride (PVC) is a flexible, time-tested, and energy efficient type of rubber roofing. It’s more flexible than other types due to the added plasticizers and cholrine salts.
  • Thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) is a relatively new type of rubber roofing. It’s welded with hot air making it incredibly durable and energy efficient.
  • EPDM roofing is without a doubt the most common/popular option when it comes to rubber roofing. Its heat absorbant properties make it a very attractive solution

As previously mentioned, rubber roofing is generally rather plain-looking, but it’s functionally excellent when it comes to durability, longevity and, protecting your space from the elements.
